RALEIGH, N.C. (March 31, 2020) – The third annual Thrive NC Festival presented by Blue Cross NC, originally scheduled for May 7-8 at City Market in downtown Raleigh, has been postponed a year until May 20-21, 2021 due to the COVID-19 public health crisis. Despite the postponement, Blue Cross NC will make sure the four previously identified nonprofits committed to improving food security will receive funding that originally was to come from ticket proceeds.
Ticket purchasers will have the option for a full refund through Eventbrite, and will also have the choice to donate their ticket fee to the NC Restaurant Workers Relief Fund. In an effort to support local members of the restaurant industry, Blue Cross NC has committed to match each and every dollar that Thrive NC Festival ticket purchasers donate to the Relief Fund.
Thrive NC strives to drive awareness and initiate change to improve food security, assisting organizations around the state in that effort.
“Blue Cross NC’s commitment to creating a healthier North Carolina and to nonprofits making a difference in improving food security remains unchanged,” said Reagan Greene Pruitt, vice president of marketing and community engagement at Blue Cross NC. “We’re proud that over the past three years we’ve invested more than $1 million toward improving food security in our state through the Thrive NC platform.”
Blue Cross NC will donate $100,000 of Thrive NC funding to be split between the following organizations to support their dedicated work to improve access to healthy, affordable food in communities that need it most. The four nonprofit organizations receiving funds are:
