RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Athletics has announced its recipient of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina's (Blue Cross NC) Finish Line Scholarship. Junior softball player Taylor Ensley was selected as this year's recipient.
Blue Cross NC has teamed up with five college sports partners across North Carolina to highlight women's athletics through the scholarship program. Each recipient of the Finish Line Scholarship was nominated by their school's athletic program for exemplifying values of leadership, integrity and community.
"Women athletes are leaders in their communities both on and off the field," said Tammy Jones, VP of Brand and Demand Generation at Blue Cross NC. "Working with NC State, Blue Cross NC is committed to supporting the next generation of North Carolina leaders."
Additionally, Blue Cross NC is awarding each scholarship recipients' high school alma mater with funding to further support women and girls in sports across North Carolina.
Originally from Franklin, N.C., Ensley joined the Pack in 2022. Throughout her 85 appearances, she has spent a majority of the last two seasons as the designated player. During her sophomore campaign, she recorded 10 multi-hit games, highlighted by two home runs in the Feb. 24, 2023 win over Penn.
Currently majoring in applied education, Ensley hopes to become a guidance counselor.
Ensley said, "I am so grateful to have been chosen for the Blue Cross NC Scholarship. There are so many athletes that deserve this and I am blessed that they chose me. Having been chosen makes me want to work even harder to do well on the field but also off the field in the classroom."
