Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s Healthy Blue Medicaid Managed Care plan has been accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.
NCQA’s nationally recognized accreditation is a rigorous assessment of health plans’ structure and process, clinical quality and patient satisfaction. Health plans, like Healthy Blue, that earn accreditation must meet standards covering more than 100 measured elements, including population health management, member experience and network management.

In addition to recognizing a health plan’s quality, the accreditation provides a comprehensive framework to strengthen operations in areas that are most important to states and consumers. It’s the only evaluation program that bases results on measurement of clinical performance (HEDIS® measures) and consumer experience (CAHPS® measures).
Healthy Blue also earned NCQA’s LTSS Distinction, which recognizes health plans that can effectively coordinate Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) among caregivers, individuals, providers and clinicians. This program identifies plans that deliver person-centered care that meets people’s needs, helps keep people in their preferred setting and aligns with state requirements.
