These past few weeks, it was hard not to get wrapped up in the excitement of the Carolina Hurricanes post-season playoff run. Taking it all the way to a game 7 in the second round of the playoffs, the Canes had a spectacular season, giving Caniacs a lot to cheer about all season long. Not only were the Canes among the top teams in the league for goals and assists, but each Cane’s assist was also a win for food security in North Carolina.

As the Official Health Insurance Partner of the Carolina Hurricanes, Blue Cross NC worked with the Canes all season long to put food insecurity in the penalty box. For every Canes goal assist, Blue Cross NC made a donation during regular and post season play. With the Canes achieving over 500 assists throughout the season, Blue Cross NC donated $30,000 to the Canes Foundation to support various community hunger initiatives across the state.

“Blue Cross NC is proud to support the impactful work of the Canes Foundation,” said Cheryl Parquet, director, community engagement and marketing activation at Blue Cross NC. “Ensuring that North Carolinians have access to healthy food is something Blue Cross NC is committed to now and as we continue to work to make health care better for all.”

Blue Cross NC congratulates the Canes on a great ‘21-‘22 season and is looking forward to partnering again next season to provide that extra incentive to rack up assists and help our local North Carolina communities.
