Durham, N.C. – In response to Hurricane Dorian, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has taken steps to ensure customers’ access to their prescription drug needs are uninterrupted due to the aftermath of the storm.  Member health and safety are our primary concern. To help our customers get the medications they need after the storm, we’re allowing our customers to get early prescription refills and replace their lost or destroyed prescriptions.

Blue Cross NC emergency response procedures are in place for the following states while declared states of emergency, which are still in effect:

  • North Carolina
  • Florida

Blue Cross NC has advised our contracted pharmacies of the appropriate measures to take in order to assist customers affected by the storm.  Customers who have questions about prescription refills or other services should call the customer service number on the back of their member card. In addition, pharmacies who have questions should call the Blue Cross NC Pharmacy desk. Our early refill policy does not apply to controlled substances.
