DURHAM, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) has announced that it will donate $25,000 to the American Red Cross of Eastern North Carolina to support sheltering and other essential needs following prolonged power outages across Moore County.
“As Moore County residents continue to feel the impacts of power outages, Red Cross relief efforts are helping thousands of individuals in need of basic resources including shelter, food and water,” said Kelly Calabria, Chief Marketing and Social Responsibility Officer at Blue Cross NC. “Working together to connect our neighbors with basic supplies and resources helps ensure the health of all North Carolinians.”
“When power outage emergencies strike, it is wonderful to have partners like Blue Cross NC to support the community,” said Barry Porter, Regional Director of the American Red Cross, Eastern north Carolina. “Their support provides resources to help us meet emerging needs in this disaster and others.”
Impacted residents can find shelter from cold, as well as power stations and internet access at the Moore County Sports Complex in Carthage, NC.

Additionally, Blue Cross NC is allowing early prescription refills through December 9 to ensure customers have access to the prescription drugs they need.
