DURHAM, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross NC) and Amerigroup Partnership Plan, LLC, are creating at least 350 jobs and opening new offices in Winston-Salem and Cary to serve customers of Healthy Blue, the new Medicaid plan offered by Blue Cross NC. The hiring process is already under way in Winston-Salem and will begin in Cary this month, highlighted by a career fair on July 24-25.
About 150 to 170 people are being hired in Winston-Salem, primarily customer service representatives. In Cary, about 200 people will be added, mostly clinical staff such as case managers and others with nursing backgrounds. The positions will serve Healthy Blue customers beginning in November 2019 under North Carolina’s Medicaid Managed Care Program. The new hires will be Amerigroup employees fully dedicated to Healthy Blue.
“These new additions to the Healthy Blue team will be on the front lines of serving our customers,” said Jesse Thomas, CEO of Healthy Blue and vice president of the Medicaid segment at Blue Cross NC. “As an extension of Blue Cross NC’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our customers and communities, these jobs represent North Carolinians serving other North Carolinians, helping them improve their health and navigate the health care system.”
Additional hires in 2020 are expected as the state’s Medicaid transformation takes full effect. The number of additional employees needed to serve Healthy Blue customers won’t be known until next year.
Anyone with appropriate skills and experience is encouraged to apply by visiting this careers site and entering “Healthy Blue” in the search box.
