Following is a statement from BCBSNC in response to the recent security breach at Anthem.
“First and foremost, BCBSNC takes our customers’ privacy very seriously. We have multiple layers of data security in place and actively monitor our systems on a regular basis. There is no indication that a breach has occurred at BCBSNC.
Anthem is a separate company from BCBSNC. It was Anthem’s systems that were recently breached – not BCBSNC’s. Anthem operates in the following states: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.
We are in close communication with Anthem and are working with them to determine whether the breach in their system impacted any BCBSNC customers – for example, those who live in or might have received care in Anthem’s service areas.
