CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – On Thursday, Dec. 4, The City of Fayetteville joined Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) to officially open the company’s new customer service center located in the Festival Park Plaza Building. The new service center is now taking customer calls and is expected to employ more than 100 full-time employees in early 2015, providing competitive pay and benefits for Fayetteville workers.

In May 2014, the company announced the expansion of its customer service operations with a new location in Fayetteville. These jobs were created in addition to BCBSNC’s current service centers in Durham and Winston-Salem. BCBSNC’s Fayetteville workforce will help improve service and efficiency while meeting the challenges and opportunities posed by the Affordable Care Act.

“It’s clear that the people of Fayetteville share our deep commitment to making our state a better place to live,” said Brad Wilson, BCBSNC president and CEO. “Together, the City of Fayetteville and BCBSNC are working towards a healthier and stronger North Carolina through a workforce that is already dedicated to meeting the health care needs of our customers.”

BCBSNC evaluated several cities in eastern and southeastern North Carolina before selecting Fayetteville for its regional service hub. The company chose Fayetteville because of its desirable workforce – including veterans, military spouses and other skilled workers – as well as its local educational institutions and competitively priced properties.

BCBSNC is consistently named a top employer both across North Carolina and nationally. The company has been honored as a top family-friendly company by Working Mother Magazine and Carolina Parent magazine, and has been named by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.

In November, BCBSNC earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Index for equal employment opportunity policies and efforts that include sexual orientation and gender identity expression, as well as equivalency in spousal and partner benefits.

Hiring began in June 2014 and about 70 positions have been filled. Almost all Fayetteville service center jobs are expected to be filled by early 2015. Interested applicants can browse available jobs at BCBSNC.com.
