CHAPEL HILL, N.C. –Bill Bryan, president of Mt. Olive Pickle Company, has been elected as a new member to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) Board of Trustees. The BCBSNC board consists of 13 leaders from across North Carolina with diverse backgrounds in health care, business, finance and education.
“At this significant time in health care change, we are fortunate to have someone like Bill Bryan helping shape the direction of BCBSNC,” said Brad Wilson, president and CEO of BCBSNC. “His extensive experience in business and finance as well as his commitment to community service will be a great addition to our Board.”
In his over 25 years at Mt. Olive Pickle Company, Bryan has served in leadership roles such as assistant secretary and treasurer as well as executive vice president, gaining a broad overview of the company. He also serves as the director and president of Pickle Packers International, Inc. in Washington, DC.
Bryan also has extensive experience in corporate finance. He is a certified public accountant and a director of Southern BancShares, Inc. in Mount Olive.
Bryan has strong ties to North Carolina’s non-profit community. He is a past director of Capital Associated Industries in Raleigh, a non-profit employers’ association, as well as a past director of North Carolina Citizens for Business and Industry in Raleigh, now known as the N.C. Chamber of Commerce, one of the state’s largest business lobbying groups.
Outside of his professional experience, Bryan is committed to furthering community activities. He is a member of the Global TransPark Foundation and the Mount Olive College Foundation, and he serves on several private foundation boards, including the James E. & Mary Z. Bryan Foundation. He is also the finance chairman on the church council at First United Methodist Church. Previously, he has served on boards in government, health and education.
His experience and contributions have gained him much recognition. An Eagle Scout, Bryan was given the Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen Award by the Tuscarora Council in 2002. In 2009 he was presented the Cornerstone Award by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce for his substantial contributions to the community. In 2010, he was presented the Being A Difference Award by the NASBA Center for the Public Trust. The national award honors individuals and organizations for their unique contributions to ethical leadership.

Bryan graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Phi Beta Kappa.
Bryan is married to Ann Scott “Scottie” Tolar Bryan and has two sons.
