CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Gerald Petkau, a top leader in Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina’s (BCBSNC’s) Finance Division, has been named chief financial officer. He replaces Dan Glaser, who is retiring on July 1.
 
“Gerald brings steady leadership and a proven track record to the job, providing important continuity for our organization as we remain a financially stable, responsible, customer-oriented business during the economic downturn and beyond,” said Bob Greczyn, BCBSNC president and CEO.
 
Gerald served previously as Vice President of Financial Services and Chief Corporate Actuary. He came to BCBSNC five years ago after serving in a variety of leadership posts in the insurance industry in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry, including his role as Chief Financial Officer of the U.S. Division of the Canada Life Assurance Company.
 
He graduated from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
