CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of North Carolina Health Care System has signed a multi-year contract with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) which ties some of the financial reimbursement to improvements in select quality health care measures. The new multi-year contract, effective August 1, continues to provide BCBSNC customers access to the full range of inpatient and outpatient services at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill and Raleigh’s Rex Healthcare – as well as UNC and Rex physicians.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with UNC Health Care," said BCBSNC's Vice President of Network Management, Milo Brunick. "Our networks include every hospital in the Triangle and virtually all in the state of North Carolina. We remain committed to ensuring our customers have access to a quality network of North Carolina doctors and hospitals at the most competitive price."
“It was very important for UNC Health Care and BCBSNC to work together to ensure continued coverage for the thousands of patients who choose us for their care,” said Dr. William L. Roper, dean of UNC’s School of Medicine and chief executive officer of UNC Health Care. “We take our responsibility to the people of North Carolina very seriously and are pleased to make this announcement.”
