CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) has reached a three-year agreement under which High Point Regional Hospital will remain an in-network hospital for BCBSNC members.
The new contract, which went into effect September 1, assures that all BCBSNC members in Guilford County will continue to have access to a comprehensive range of hospital services at in-network benefit levels. The two sides reached the new agreement after negotiating for less than two months.
“We’re pleased that High Point Regional will continue to provide quality and cost-effective care for our members in and around Guilford County,” said Milo Brunick, BCBSNC vice president of Network Management. “Reasonable hospital contracts, like this one, help us keep care as affordable as possible for our members. We appreciate the willingness of the leadership of High Point Regional to negotiate in good faith.”
BCBSNC is committed to developing collaborative working relationships with the doctors and hospitals treating BCBSNC members in all North Carolina counties. BCBSNC currently has contracts with virtually all the acute care hospitals in North Carolina. Network hospitals include the academic medical centers of N.C. Baptist Hospital, UNC Hospitals, Duke University Medical Center and Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The health insurer recently entered into multi-year agreements with a number of other medical centers in the state, including WakeMed in Raleigh, Carolinas HealthCare System in the Charlotte area and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
