CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) announces the promotion of Steve Dean to vice president, IS Technology Planning and Networking, and Lisa Cade to vice president, Federal Employee Program.
 
In Dean’s new role, he will manage the Enterprise Architecture, Network and Telephony departments within Information Services. Dean previously served as the director of technical engineering before becoming the senior director of Enterprise Architecture. Dean has been a BCBSNC employee for more than four years.
 
“Steve has demonstrated his ability to improve and standardize our computing environments, and that will help position us as an innovative leader in health care technology,” said John Sternbergh, senior vice president and chief information officer. “He has consistently provided solutions that have resulted in cost savings and improved operations and efficiencies. His technology leadership has been an important contribution to our success.”
 
Dean has more than 20 years of experience in designing and developing commercial systems and applications, including 18 years in various management capacities. He has a CIS degree from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. He is a Chapel Hill resident.
 
As vice president, Lisa Cade will manage five departments for the Federal Employee Program (FEP) including Claims, Customer Service, Support Services, Health Management and Informatics. Previously, she served as the senior director of network management at BCBSNC. She has been with the company for 13 years.
 
“Lisa has exceptional strategic and business planning skills,” said Fred Goldwater, senior vice president of Commercial and Government Operations. “Her past performance shows her strength in delivering improvements, which will help us to increase our level of service and benefit our members.”
 
Cade served as an ambassador for BCBSNC’s CareerStylesSM, an employment brand designed to attract and retain high-quality employees and to establish BCBSNC as an employer of choice. Cade is a steering committee member of the Women’s Leadership Council for the Triangle United Way. She holds a BS degree in health science and psychology from James Madison University in Virginia and a Master of Public Health degree in health administration from the University of South Carolina. She is a Cary resident.
