CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) today announced two senior–level promotions to enhance company–wide efficiency and excellence.
BCBSNC President and CEO Bob Greczyn announced Brad Wilson’s promotion to the new position of executive vice president, chief administrative officer and corporate secretary. Wilson will be responsible for many of the departments providing service to the entire company, including Corporate Communications, Customer Satisfaction, Government Affairs, Human Resources, Strategic Development, and Workplace Resources.
Wilson, who previously was BCBSNC senior vice president and general counsel, joined the company in 1995 after serving as general counsel for former Gov. Jim Hunt. Wilson, who is chairman of the UNC Board of Governors, also practiced law in Lenoir, N.C., for 14 years.
"Brad’s leadership was crucial to our corporate transformation as we renewed our focus on customers and returned the company to financial stability," Greczyn said. "This expanded role will allow us to make even greater use of Brad’s leadership abilities to help our customers and our company. His vision and his knowledge of our company, North Carolina and the public policy arena are tremendous assets."
Greczyn also announced Maureen O’Connor’s promotion to senior vice president and general counsel. She will be responsible for all legal and regulatory issues, including regulatory compliance, litigation management, contract management, ethics and privacy, fraud and general corporate matters. Previously, she served as vice president, deputy general counsel and chief compliance officer of BCBSNC.

Her previous posts have included senior regional counsel for CIGNA Corp; regional general counsel for Healthsource, Inc.; and senior vice president for Healthsource North Carolina, Inc.
"There is no more important job for any company than strictly adhering to laws and regulations, meeting its contractual obligations, protecting customer privacy and setting a strong ethical standard," Greczyn said.
