CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina announced today that it has streamlined its leadership team to help position the company strategically for future success and to increase efficiency.

Bob Greczyn, president and CEO of the state's largest health insurer, has restructured the company's leadership team to consist of four officers reporting directly to him. The changes took effect Nov. 13, 2006. The four – all of whom are current BCBSNC executives – and their areas of responsibility are:
  • Brad Wilson, chief operating officer. Wilson, previously executive vice president, is now responsible for Commercial and Government Operations, Information Services, Healthcare, the company's Enterprise Project Office, and Government Affairs.
  • Maureen O'Connor, chief administrative officer, general counsel and corporate secretary. O’Connor, previously senior vice president and general counsel, is now responsible for Law & Regulatory Affairs, Compliance & Ethics, Audit & Risk Management, Human Resources, Corporate Communications, and Strategic Development.
  • Dan Glaser, chief financial officer. Glaser, who continues as CFO, has responsibilities that include Financial Services, Actuarial Services, Treasury, Network Management, and Workplace Resources.
  • John Roos, chief sales and marketing officer. In addition to Sales and Marketing, Roos now oversees Community Relations and ACS Benefit Services, a BCBSNC subsidiary based in Winston-Salem.
"These changes are important for positioning the company for the future," Greczyn said. "As a company, we're fortunate to have the experience and leadership of these four executives. I look forward to working closely with them as we focus on achieving our strategic goals."
