Blue Cross Names John D. Kimberly to Board of Trustees

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross) announced John D. Kimberly, president and director of Carolina Alliance Bank, as the newest member of its board of trustees. The Blue Cross board consists of community leaders with varied backgrounds in health care, education, business and finance.

“John’s history as a leader in business and his involvement in community health organizations will bring knowledge and perspective that is valuable to our company, especially during a time of tremendous change in health care,” said Blue Cross President and CEO, Brad Wilson.

Kimberly is the president and director of the Carolina Alliance Bank, a company specializing in personalized banking services for communities and local businesses in Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina. Prior to joining Carolina Alliance Bank in 2014, he was the president and CEO/founding director at Forest Commercial Bank in Asheville, N.C. for seven years, after serving as the market president for SunTrust Bank in Asheville, N.C. from 2002 to 2007.

Throughout his career, Kimberly has an active history of civic and community involvement. He has held board and leadership positions at United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Mission Health, Mission Health Care Foundation and North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Kimberly earned an undergraduate degree in Economics from Wake Forest University and completed the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.
